Resume not parsing correctly

Solutions for common resume upload and parsing problems.

If your resume isn't parsing correctly, don't worry. Here are common issues and how to fix them.

Common Parsing Issues

Most parsing problems fall into these categories:

Missing sections: Education or experience not detected

Incorrect dates: Work dates appearing wrong

Merged content: Multiple items combined into one

Missing text: Some content not extracted
5
Wrong categorization: Skills listed as experience, etc.

PDF Issues

PDFs are usually best, but watch for:

  • Image-based PDFs (scans) can't be parsed - use OCR or recreate
  • Complex layouts with multiple columns may confuse the parser
  • Heavy graphics and design elements reduce accuracy
  • Ensure text is selectable (try copying text from the PDF)

Solutions

Try these fixes:

Re-upload with a simpler format version

Use DOCX instead of PDF (or vice versa)
